Mercury in Evolutionary Astrology: Meaning, Shadow and Medicine

Mercury: from mental static to divine messenger.

I made this one for all of you carrying Mercury, which is everyone, since it lives somewhere in every chart. What most are taught is that Mercury is logic, the mind with no emotion in it. What I love about Mercury is that it's the only one allowed to travel into the upper realm and the lower realm carrying messages, and that it's the mind in direct service of the soul. Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, so this one's the partner to those two posts.

Mercury, in words

What it feels like: Bam, bam, bam.

Mercury is the busy mind. When you're driving in a car, bam, bam, bam, all this information is coming in.

Mercury, of course, is the throat, our ability to communicate and speak our truth. It can be the foot in the mouth, or an inability to say anything at all.

It's a quick energy, and it can show up as speaking rapidly, being wordy, being fidgety, being scattered.

What most are taught: Logic.

What most are taught about Mercury is logic, mind, there is no emotion in it.

Mercury does represent the most logical and linear aspect of our minds, but there is still always going to be that foundational emotional, psychological component.

Go deeper and Mercury is the mind in direct service of the soul's evolutionary intention. We always want to connect it all back to Pluto.

The overflow: Divine Messenger.

In the mythology, Mercury is the only one allowed to travel into the upper realm and the lower realm, carrying messages.

It's so neutral that it can go anywhere, and in that neutrality it's the one that's gone everywhere. That is why Mercury is also the teacher, the guide.

Mercury is the writer, the painter, the singer, any expression where you're conveying a message.

The overwhelm: Mental Static.

Hundreds of thousands of thoughts go through our mind a day. We're all overstimulated all the time. How do we deal with that?

When we listen to our thoughts, how are we talking to ourselves? We know exactly the frequency we're in.

When we talk to ourselves more kindly, that can help us feel better. Change the mind, shift the mind, change the world.

How it ripens: The retrograde.

Mercury goes retrograde three to four times a year. The retrograde is going back and bringing out things from the past.

We've been moving too fast, and we need to slow down. Look at where you may have skipped steps. You need to go back and have that conversation again.

Trust that process. Something is working below the surface, and on the other side, the clarity can come.

The highest

Everyone has genius, but not everybody is in the consciousness of it.

How we are mentally integrating, interpreting, understanding, and communicating our soul purpose is the Mercury. It's there to help us go to the highest understanding.

Mercury is the messenger delivering to and from the depths of soul.
